EL NORTE SOBRE EL VACÍO
For me, what’s important in cinema is not to preach to the audience, not to tell them what to think, or to show them with images and sounds things they already know are right or wrong. On the contrary, I believe the cinematic experience should be one of constant questioning.
This is something I really enjoyed exploring in this film—raising the question of who is good and who is bad. It’s a bit about talking about institutions, systems, patriarchy in all its forms, violence in all its forms—not just the obvious ones—and how all of this is interwoven.
I don’t want to pass any judgment, nor do I want to say that the world is like this or that this is right and this is wrong. For me, cinema should raise more questions than answers. To make you think about it when you're standing in line at the bank, to disturb you, to fill you with questions.
